LoL Replay System Revealed!

An official Replay System has been announced by Riot for League of Legends. As of now, the Replay System has already been put on the PBE (Public Beta Environment) server. But, do not expect to see this feature on the main servers any time soon. Like spectator mode, the Replay System will be spending multiple months on the PBE going through many rounds of testing to make sure that the System is finely tuned for release.

As of right now on the PBE, the Replay System is setup to keep a players last few matches on the Riot servers for a limited time. Once a player has watched a replay, that replay will be stored locally on their computer to be watched at any time. The file size of each replay is approximately 5mb. A player will be able to rename any of their replays as well as share them with their friends. The replay mode itself will look very similar to the current spectator mode as far as functionality and navigation go in game. An important note that PBE testers should be aware of is that the Replay System will not be able to play replays from previous patches. Being able to watch replays from previous patches will be a feature available on full release of the Replay System. If you are excited for a streamlined replay system and have a PBE account go out onto the PBE servers now and test this new exciting feature!

Furthermore, Gamereplays will be fully supporting the Replay System with an organized and absolutely fantastic looking Replay Database. Make sure to check it out! While we may not support the new format as of now, we’ll be ready to release our new and improved system right beside Riot.
